I was born into a world fraught with poverty, disease, and war. Those of my own age face lives subject to homelessness, injustice, murder, and sickness.
I will not close my eyes. I will not forget the ringing cries of the oppressed, and the silent screams of the world around me. I will not give up on this world that I am a part of, and more importantly, I will not give up on me. From this point forward, I join my voice with millions across the world to declare a solemn proclamation: that I will not slump back into easy thinking. I will not accept the world as it has been given to me. I accept the eminent truth that I am more than my environment.
